Location based stories
Each story was written especially for its publicity spot Imagine that you were reading the story of "Moby Dick" while sitting on the deck of a whaling ship, or "Les Misérables" in a shabby alley in the 19th century. Amazing isn’t it? Every story we read brings us into its world, a world that usually exist only in our imagination. In honor of the Hebrew Book Festival, Steimatzky decided to take the reading experience one step further: reading the story where it actually takes place. We challenged young writers to choose a bus station in Tel Aviv and write an original short story, with the whole plot happening in the bus station area. We added a code that when scanned, leads to other stories. For example: people waiting for a bus near 71 Eben Gvirol Street, could see the coffee shop where the protagonist always drinks her coffee, or the window of her lover's apartment. The words slowly came out of the story and turned into reality. The project gained momentum: apart from reading the stories in stations, they were also published on Facebook with an option to rate them. Thousands of people shared their favorite stories with their friends. Maps were handed out in Steimatzky stores, inviting story lovers to take a short tour on the path of short stories that was created between the bus stations. On each billboard, we printed a QR Code that led to a map reveling additional stories that are close to your location.
