To aid the environmental organization MillionTreesNYC, TD Bank will turn the majority of its New York City storefronts (115 of them) into micro art galleries. Ten fine artists, all … read morewith NYC connections, have each been commissioned to create an original, tree-themed painting, photograph or, in one case, sculpture, for display and for charitable sale at three pop-up galleries around the city. The nine two-dimensional pieces are reprinted, unbranded (on recyclable, compostable vinyl, using soy-based inks) at sizes up to 8’ x 8’, to go in the bank’s storefront windows, with specific locations for each artist chosen based on biographical relevance (lived in the neighborhood, painted something nearby, etc.). Beside each work is a gallery-style lucite panel with artist info and quotes. In addition, free poster-sized reproductions will be given out at bank branches and via Twitter.
