G-Shock: Five MinutesTop 6: December 3rd 2014
'UNIT9 presents' is proud to announce the launch of FIVE MINUTES, a live action game created for zombie-lovers and tough-as-nails audiences. Created by up and coming student talent Maximilian Niemann (writer and director) and Felix Faisst (producer), with a team from the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, FIVE MINUTES is a soon-to-be cult classic live action experience that blurs the line between a zombie game and a branded interactive film. "For 15 years we have worked from the ground up to bring emotions and craft to brand messages on new platforms. The industry is too stale and safe we're seeing too many gimmicks being produced," comments Piero Frescobaldi, Chairman and Co-Founder of UNIT9. "UNIT9 presents' is a platform for independent and new talent, created to stimulate the advertising industry to embrace gameplay and storytelling together. " Featuring G-SHOCK watches, FIVE MINUTES is the ultimate zombie countdown. The game is based on the concept that the first symptom of infection is memory loss. John, the main character, is fighting to survive after being injured during a battle with a zombie. Only five minutes remain for John to figure out his fate and for the player to help him and his daughter survive up to the twisted climax. "FIVE MINUTES is a gaming experience in which the user discovers what makes the G-SHOCK unique by being directly involved in the action,” says director Maximilian Niemann. “We want users to experience this watch for themselves so that nothing is promised: it is proven.” Players have to help John fight the infection by keeping him focused while he is reaching for his memories. Only if the user succeeds and John holds onto his memories will he survive. This raises the stakes of the game, involving the user to an unprecedented degree. "We developed a custom HTML framework for FIVE MINUTES, so that the game can be played on all desktop and tablet devices without app installation", concludes producer Felix Faißt. "This framework made the experience suitable for a variety of users as it offers easy access, in addition to three levels of difficulty."
