Kia Motors unveiled its full-length Super Bowl spot for the all-new 2016 Optima, titled "Walken Closet," created by LA-based David&Goliath. The :60 spot, starring Christopher Walken, will air during the third quarter of the Big Game and is part of a larger integrated campaign that will roll out across various digital, social and promotion channels. Midsize sedans are not typically aspirational vehicles. They do not occupy the cool niches of sports cars or SUVs. They are practical, expected, and boring. Even their category name implicates them as middling. The next-generation Kia Optima, however, is anything but your typical midsize sedan.

To introduce the next-generation Optima, Kia and D&G enlisted revered cultural icon and star Christopher Walken. Given the fact that your car, like the clothes you wear, reflects the style you have as an individual, what better place for Christopher Walken to extol his words of wisdom than inside a walk-in closet. It is from here that Walken explains that the next-generation Optima is the antidote to the overwhelming monotony we’ve come to expect from the midsize sedan category.

Walken’s characteristic style and cool demeanor have the perfect amount of pizzazz to complement this exciting new car.

Colin Jeffery, CCO of David&Goliath, said: “There are a few special moments in one’s career. Those times when you find yourself in an interesting place, making something you never thought possible, with someone you never thought you’d meet. Being in a closet with Christopher Walken and 600 pairs of beige slacks was definitely one of those moments.”
