Oscar-winning actress Dame Helen Mirren, singer Will Young, actress Helena Bonham-Carter and comedian Rob Brydon all star in Leo Burnett London’s first campaign for Oxfam Unwrapped (Leo Burnett won the business earlier this year) – which is launching its Christmas 2007 campaign as a move against unwanted festive gifts – The Campaign for Decent Christmas Presents.
The TV ad is a first-of-its-kind spoof charity ad – poking fun at the traditional charity appeal ad and stating how millions of people suffer every year from receiving rubbish presents. Dame Helen, who is an Oxfam ambassador, tells viewers, “it’s terribly sad”, while Helena Bonham Carter holds a flapping singing fish and Rob Brydon looks quizzically at a moving pink toy pig. Will Young invites viewers to look at the tears in his sorrowful eyes after receiving his disappointing Christmas presents.
