Kia Soul: HamstersTop 6: April 15th 2009
LA-based independent creative agency David&Goliath recruited some of the best in the business to pull off this momentous spot, titled "Hamsters." From acclaimed film, music video and commercial director Tarsem, to renowned Whitehouse editor Ben Stephens, to Framestore London—one the most sought-after vfx studios in the world, responsible for vfx in films like The Dark Knight and The Golden Compass—the commercial is some of Kia’s most inspired and unique work to date. David&Goliath also collaborated with Stan Winston's company, Legacy Effects, to create the “frighteningly authentic” hamster suits.
“This campaign isn’t about counter-culture or opting to go in a completely different direction. We’re merely suggesting there’s an alternative to the ordinary,” said Colin Jeffery, executive creative director at David&Goliath. “We all have to get from point A to point B – The Soul is just a cooler way to get there.”
