A new road safety ad targeting Victoria’s youth will air tonight following the creative efforts of leading interactive agency, Sputnik, and production company Otto Empire.
The engaging ad, drumming home the importance of ‘looking after your mates’, was scripted by Ashwood College student, Felicity Hogg, as part of the RACV Transmission road safety schools program.
The RACV Transmission program has been designed to encourage students in Years 9-12, to investigate a road safety issue and explore ways to creatively and effectively present a safety message to their peers.
As part of the program, students write a Community Service Announcement TV ad script, and one student’s script is chosen by a panel of media, marketing and road safety experts to be professionally produced and screened on-air.
Says Steve O'Farrell, MD of Sputnik: "Sputnik worked with the RACV through the entire Transmission program, lending experience and expertise at the workshops, during the judging of the submitted scripts and in making the commercial a reality.
"Felicity’s script was chosen for its originality and its appropriateness in delivering the road safety message to youth.
"The Otto Empire’s director Stephen Carroll and producer Tobias Webster were then tasked with bringing the script to life. From the end result it is clear that they really understood what the ad was trying to achieve, delivering on the sentiment that actions speak louder than words.
"All those involved are delighted with the final product and hope that the ad makes young drivers safer on our roads in the short term and more responsible road users in the future."
