Nike Japan will host a running event - 'Run Together' - on March 11, 2012, the first anniversary of East Japan Great Earthquake. The event invites runners around Japan to unite … read morethrough sport and cover 32,000 kilometers - equal to the perimeter of Japan. Anyone who has NIKE+ can join by running. Nike will donate 500 yen (about US$6.20) for every kilometer accumulated from 'Run Together' to U.S. NGO Architecture for Humanity to be used to help reconstruct the disaster-stricken area of Tohoku. Nike will cap its donation at 20,000,000 yen.
Unfortunately the registration information is only available in Japanese, but don't get discouraged! Non-Japanese speakers can still participate in this event by tweeting and liking their Facebook page. Nike will donate 1 yen per 1 tweet and/or 1 “Like”.
Since last March, Nike has been continuing a series of efforts titled 'All for Japan' to support the people and the region that suffered from the Earthquake, and 'Run Together' is one of them.
