BEST TVWinner:
TEDxSydney Meet Sara. Rayyydium. The makers of this gem should do a TED talk on creating must-see content. Everything from the writing to the performances and art direction are spot on from start to finish. The cherry on the cake was looking over on the Bestads' page to see a sponsor's banner from the spot's production company Scoundrel flipping me off. Well played.
Runner up: I'll pretend my tastes go beyond potty-mouthed humor and give the
Royal Navy a salute for the beautiful craft on display in this piece. I don't know why Michael had to sell his motorcycle though, Pete Mitchell kept his Ninja when he was in the Navy.
BEST PRINTWinner:
Pocket Books, Tolstoy. Tough choice for this week's best visual solution. Loved the Lego Dragon and clever Thermos Wool with their matching color palettes and agencies, but I can never pass up a good book. Christopher Hitchens is in my pocket right now.
Runner up:
BCAA Insurance, Piano. Tough category to do nice crafty work for. I didn't love the type at the bottom but who cares when the piano is my favorite shade of hot pink.
BEST OUTDOOR Winner:
UNICEF: Hiding Furniture. I have no idea whatsoever how this works. (Does that mean it's working?). But the writeup alone is enough to make me a bit jealous.
Runner up:
Nissan Canadian Animals. I can never get enough of vector art or Canada.
BEST INTERACTIVEWinner:
Solidarite Grands Froids: The Homeless Webshop. Damn, that's so smart. Proof that you don't need a big budget to have a big idea. The opposite in this case, apparently. Congrats to the whole team on what I'm sure will be a very well received campaign.
Runner up:
P&G - Downy: Scent By Downy. I'm really hoping that fresh Downy smell comes through your actual phone and not in a box, but either way it's super catchy. Someone once told me the judge of a good interactive idea was "Would you do it yourself?" Um, yeah.
