 GUEST JUDGE /BEST AD OF THE WEEK   WORLDWIDE    May 13, 2024 12:53 (Edited: May 13, 2024 22:53)
BEST TV
Winner: Speedo 'Go Full Speedo'. This has done what is so, so hard to do: They've created a cracking and catchy original song for an ad. On top of that they've made Speedos cool. Energetic and beautifully shot, and makes you want to join in and Go Full Speedo.
That's why I am currently writing this in a one-piece.

Runner up: Tango 'Warden'. It didn't go full Speedo but there is some stripping off. Which seems to be doing it for me today. Nice to see the iconic Tango silliness is still being embraced.

BEST PRINT
Winner: Unilever 'Hairstyles that make history - Amy'. Print is hard to do well. Iconic print is near impossible. But using an iconic figure with an iconic hairstyle, well, that's enough to see this execution get the nod today.

BEST OUTDOOR
Winner: Vivo Brazil 'Amazon desert rally'. The Mad Max future is closer than we think. But this one doesn't feature Chris Hemsworth. Which is ok, because the fact that this is brought to you by those affected most, is what makes this the most powerful outdoor piece on display here.

Runner up: Hahn 'Hahn Solo'. A fun idea for Star Wars Day. And I hear off the back of this, The Mos Eisley Cantina is now a Lion stocked bar.

BEST INTERACTIVE
Winner: La Hora Tica 'Trolling trolls'. Love the simplicity of this. Targeting the very source of the misinformation to educate, and have us question the sources of our news. Quite timely for the rest of the world.

Runner up: McDonald's 'Deal with the trash'. A delicious solution to a disgusting problem.

This week's guest judge is Lisa Fedyszyn, chief creative officer at Special, New Zealand Aotearoa.

Lisa has a passion for creating effective work that makes a positive impact on culture and brands. Throughout her career she has brought TV characters back from the dead for their "Last Performance", to talk to New Zealand's under-insured. She has also helped a man living with Motor Neurone Disease sell his unusable belongings in a digital timeline reflective of his deterioration, created the "Most Entertaining Recruitment Film" (and most successful) for the New Zealand Police, which saw the largest intake of female and representative recruits ever. She has even encouraged overseas New Zealanders to "Meddle" in their own election, which saw seats in parliament shift for the first time since 1938. On top of that, Lisa moved Kathmandu from being a brand parents wear, to one their kids embrace with the help of a merman and owl DJ with "Summer Never Sleeps".

Lisa has worked with her creative partner, Jonathan, for 21 years. She has no evidence to back this up, but she is just going to say it anyway, that they are the longest running creative duo. Together they have consistently created innovative campaigns that have won Cannes Grand Prix, Grand Effies, One Show Best in Discipline and D&AD Pencils.

Even though Lisa has been named Campaign Asia's 'Creative Person Of The Year', she is proudest of being part of the team that helped Special win Campaign UK Global Creative Agency of the Year twice in the past three years.
