 GUEST JUDGE /BEST AD OF THE WEEK   WORLDWIDE    June 24, 2024 14:07 (Edited: June 25, 2024 00:07)
BEST TV
Winner: KFC UK & Ireland 'Believe in Chicken'. To be honest, I'm usually not a fan of dancing. Whether it's line dancing, River-dance or dancing ads. However, KFC's 'Believe in Chicken' dives headfirst into this genre with impressive craftsmanship, resulting in an intriguing and surprisingly watchable spot.

Runner-up: Australian Pork 'Por que?'. When it comes to BBQ and meat, no one knows more than the South Americans-at least according to my Argentine sister-in-law when I'm BBQing. I admire the courage of this Australian Pork client for choosing such a uniquely memorable ad. It has a touch of Mother's 'Chris Christmas Rodriguez,' which is also a personal favourite.

BEST PRINT
Winner: Situation Sthlm. I hadn't heard of this charity before, but I absolutely love their underlying purpose. Empowering homeless people is a great way to lift them out of poverty, and I love how classically simple the headline is in this ad.

Runner-up: Nutritec Cat 'Kings'. I had a cat growing up that loved to sit high up on a beam, looking down on us. Once, as I walked underneath, it spat on me. Cats know they rule over us; we're just their servants. This ad perfectly sums that up.

BEST OUTDOOR
Winner: Decathlon - Yulex100 'From Tree To Sea'. I like the idea of utilising relevant media channels, especially untapped ones. Hacking surf cameras is a fresh way to talk to this audience.

Runner-up: Love Food Hate Waste 'Mouldy Bread'. We don't see too many special-builds these days with so many digital displays around, so it's refreshing to see something that grabs attention for the food waste cause.

BEST INTERACTIVE
Winner: Mitsubishi 'Woman Driver'. Loads of ads win advertising awards, but in reality, they don't make a meaningful impact. I love how this campaign from Mitsubishi resulted in real change in this country.

Runner-up: Aguila 'The Beerlottery'. There's nothing worse than your favourite team bailing out early. This idea from Aguila is definitely a fresh way to bring viewers eyeballs back to the game. You can't give away free beer here in NZ, but I'm glad there's a place in the world that you can.
