The Mannerheim League for Child Welfare: Warning ServiceTop 6: March 20th 2024
Dangerous social media trends have become more common among young people, and parents often feel they are alone with the issue. The Mannerheim League for Child Welfare (MLL) has partnered with TBWAHelsinki to establish a warning service for dangerous social media challenges, identifying and alerting parents about local emerging social media trends via text message. The service is dedicated to the memory of Niilo Kaste, a victim of a social media challenge that went tragically wrong. The warning service is a free platform for parents. They can opt to receive alerts of locally emerging challenges, browse trending challenges on a live map, and register for text message notifications that warn about challenges spreading in real time – helping parents to distinguish potential risks and most importantly, talk to their children about what they are seeing on their feed.
