The film opens with a thin & frail 5 year old boy, who is very excited about the prospect of traveling for his mother's ‘Dohale Jevan’ (baby shower ceremony). For reasons unknown,… read more he hides a stainless steel bowl in the luggage before leaving. During the course of the journey, it becomes evident that the boy is physically weak, since he is unable to lift a single bag and gets tired easily.
As part of the religious ceremony, women relatives and friends alike sing traditional Marathi songs for the mother-to-be, as well as offer her gifts like ‘bows & arrow’ and ‘lotuses’ made out of clay. Each item signifies a quality they wish the child to be born with, like the bow & arrow and the lotus represent bravery and beauty respectively.
Unbeknownst to everyone, the kid quietly puts the bowl he had carried from back home in the same gift tray, only for it to be thrown out by his maternal grandmother time and time again. She finally catches him, and reprimands him for trying to disrupt the ceremony.
The kid shocks everyone present with his revelation that the only reason he was trying to put the bowl in the plate was because he is worried about his yet-to-be-born sibling ending up being weak like him. His solution, the bowl, which to him represents nutrition!
