This week's guest judge is Brett Howlett, creative partner of Archibald Ingall Stretton, New York. Brett has written a bunch, from theatre and film to digital advertising. Along the way he's bagged a wall of awards, a new wife, and a baby. Recently he opened the New York office of London's archibald ingall stretton, a digitally-fluent global creative agency, together with a few very talented Brits and Aussies; there are a few Americans too. In his spare time (yeah right), he's managing a web series currently in production.
BEST TVPerhaps it's because I have adopted a YouTube mentality of 'give me entertainment, make it quick, wow me now...' but I loved the
V Isokinetic spot of running with ladders. Lots of well crafted energy with a perfect music track. I needed a drink after it. (btw: look at their website, that's well done too.) My second vote goes to a simple idea from Jakarta,
Kayaking Jumbo Peanut, a simple thought done as well.
BEST PRINTI couldn't go past the beautiful look of
Sate Leguas. The only thing better than a great looking ad is one with an idea. Second choice went to
Bauducco for their simple crispy toast visual that says it all and does it quickly.
BEST OUTDOORAdmittedly I read the blurb under the
Economist poster before I was sold, but I'm a sucker for OOH that uses tech to enhance its experience. Read the story yourself, it's good. Second place goes to another simple thought (I'm noticing a pattern here with second place, spooky), the
Neril Anti Hair-Fall ad. Who doesn't like a good demo?
BEST INTERACTIVELots of fine production value in this category, like the Polar Bear Plunge, but my vote went to
Pilot. Anything that can drag the art of writing into the digital age deserves props. A really neat experience that'll last longer than pen ink. My second vote (a close one), went to
Ultimate Fighting Championship. Beautiful design, easy to interact with and makes good use of social; not your average garish fight ad.
