 GUEST JUDGE /BEST AD OF THE WEEK   WORLDWIDE    February 12, 2024 18:24 (Edited: February 13, 2024 05:24)
BEST TV
Lucky me to get to review film the week after the Superbowl! There's tough competition in this week's entries, but for me the clear winner is Squarespace. The aliens are coming, but we're too distracted by our phones to notice. I love that we can all relate to being both the humans and the aliens in this story. And when your ad is not only directed by Martin Scorsese but has a cameo by the man himself, well that's a winner. The runner up this week is also a celeb-led feast, brought to us by Uber Eats. I love the simple and hilarious device of forgetting something to remember something. It's great with the celebs but could work without, which just shows that it's a strong idea.

BEST PRINT
For Print, Libra Mattresses gets my vote this week. The photography catches my attention and I like the unexpectedness of using owls to promote mattresses. The photography is so effective that I don't think it needed both lines. It's a simple idea that works. This week's runner up is Obolon with another strong and simple visual idea. I'd get this idea without any copy at all. And the message is a powerful one that would make me order the beer.

BEST OUTDOOR
My vote goes to Pepsi for the bold move to use a Diet Coke in their advertising. Some people will argue against this choice, but I love the cleverness of finding the answer right there on the competition's pack. I wonder if this was made more for social than for outdoor, but if your out of home gets shared on social, double win. My runner up is Nissan. Cars rushing off a billboard on to the road? So terrifying I have to vote for it.

BEST INTERACTIVE
My winner is easypaisa for improving the lives of women with innovation and song. I hope this works helps millions understand their rights at such a crucial stage in life. Congratulations to the team for spotting a problem and solving it beautifully. At the other end of the relationship story is our runner up Who Gives A Crap, for flushing bad exes down the toilet.

BEST RADIO
I have a rule in life and that's always choose goats. So Mountain Goats gets my vote for being hilariously daft and memorably so. Perfect radio. I wish I lived in Australia so I could hear this all the time. My runner up is Gousto for putting a new spin on the trailer concept and making me hungry. Which reminds me that it's dinner time so I'm signing off and ordering something with paprika.
