 GUEST JUDGE /BEST AD OF THE WEEK   WORLDWIDE    July 21, 2025 16:45 (Edited: July 22, 2025 02:45)
https://www.bestadsontv.com/news/upload/DiDi-Yes-I-DiDi.jpegBEST TV
Winner: DiDi 'Yes, I DiDi'. Well seems like this client just gave the creative team keys to the affordable car and let them run wild. Sure I think it could have been much shorter and the main actor could have rehearsed his dialogue more, but well hot damn, they sure went for it and I applaud that. I'm finding myself watching it over again just to see what they got away with. Despite the gratuitous creative masturbation of short-person weirdness, when you look at the overall message, it says something that could be memorable: You can have more weird nights out because this car service is affordable. So it's not totalllllllly random, ya know.

https://www.bestadsontv.com/news/upload/Drawn%20on%20Ipad%203.jpgRunner up: KFC 'Obsession'. Okay, we're pivoting away from the W+K style humor of KFC and now relaunching into the grown up commercial world of it. Got it. This "fever dream" gives it a little bit of a license to go wild to prove that our homeboy, the Colonel, was obsessed with his ingredients. We know it doesn't matter if he actually knocked out someone in the courtroom or really threw a whole vat of gravy out into the dining room (I'm guessing), what matters is the takeaway that he lived so we could chicken. The payoff line really makes me like the spot, completing the thought of what we just watched. Without it, it could have been just be a founder history spot like Jameson's Legendary Tales. My question though for the account is: now that you've established the history where do you take the Colonel that feels fresh? Also a side note: the celebrity addition of Matty Mathieson totally not necessary.

BEST PRINT
Winner: Apple Shot on iPhone 'Drawn on iPad 3'. It's a little cocky to not have any copy or logos here, but the concept behind it is pretty fun and shows the breath of Apples capabilities in a fun mashup.

No runner-up.

BEST OUTDOOR
https://www.bestadsontv.com/news/upload/Nathans%20Subway.jpgWinner: Nathan's Famous 'Follow the (F)rank to Nathan's Famous'. A very cool insight based on something that only Nathan's Famous Hot Dogs could own. The creative nugget they found that brought it to life is so obvious, yet hidden. The headlines associated with it also are spot on and really help tell the story. I wish they did a little bit more of a guerrilla launch to it, sneakily adding mustard lines to real subway maps but that would probably have been illegal. Sending the creatives or strategists who figured this out a Golf Clap.

Runner up: Lexus 'Served at Speed'. This feels a little like the Volvo JCVD epic split, and a few things done by Red Bull, but f-it, it's interesting to watch. I went online and looked up the making-of video and it helped bring this one up to a "runner up," as the teaser doesn't do much for me. I'm a fan of these type of filmed stunts but how it reaches the consumer should be carefully thought out too. Maybe Lexus could learn a little more from Volvo in this case? (Also clawing my brain on why they would want to ask a consumer to search for something online rather than just tell a story online or give a takeaway in the actual video)
