Sérgio Gordilho is Co-Chairman and chief creative officer at Africa-- Ad Age’s International Agency of the Year.
Africa has demonstrated tremendous fast growth in only 11 years of existence. It became the 7th largest advertising agency in Brazilian market (the #1 independent one) and has been granted the title of agency of the year 3 times and for the last 5 years the most admired Advertising Agency in Brazil.
Gordilho is a former architect, cartoonist, illustrator. Formal education include a master degree in graphic design, from the Royal College of Art and a MBA at Berlin School of creative leadership.
In his early years of advertising, he has won several awards and with his work helped DDB Brasil win the Cannes Agency of the year award(2003/2004). Newcomm Bates was also named Brazilian agency of the year by Caboré with Gordilho's work.(the most prestigious advertising award in Brazil).
In 2004, Nizan Guanaes, a legend within the Brazilian Advertising world, asked Gordilho to join him in a new project. This project is known today as Agency Africa, considered the most innovative and admired agency in Brazil.
Within 4 years years of Africa, Nizan passed the creative command to Gordilho and under his leadership Africa keeps growing in the economic side, continues to receive local and global recognition for high level quality work and creative ability to innovate.
