 GUEST JUDGE /BEST AD OF THE WEEK   WORLDWIDE    January 25, 2016 09:56 (Edited: February 17, 2023 04:19)
BEST TV
Best: The best film for me is Tiger Beer 'The Wok'. It's a nicely crafted piece that captures the street food culture of Asia in an authentic but slightly magical way. It's approaching the evening as I write this and after seeing this film I could go for a wok created meal and a beer.

Runner up: Yes it's definitely got me thinking about dinner because as a runner up I liked the Bar-B-Q Plaza spot for its film craft. The acting and direction made me chuckle and brings a charming, light hearted tone to their message. The bigger initiative of leaving zero waste is a worthy cause and hopefully it takes off in the community.

BEST PRINT
Best: Nothing really rose to the top in this category. For the winner I'll go with the British Army 'Better You' because as a message it's at least provocative and could make the audience think about it. I'm guessing a little but this execution feels like it's part of a bigger idea, and I can see it being a starting point for a conversation around what the army means for generation Z.

BEST OUTDOOR
Best: As a winner I thought the Volkswagen 'Trailer Assist' was a clever demonstration of the feature and a bit of fun. I'm curious what was done with it to reach a broader audience, but it's a nice outdoor stunt none the less.

Runner up: As a runner up the Honey Nut 'Living Billboard' is a super simple execution that brings the product to life in an interesting way. Just like a good wok does for honey chicken stir fry.

BEST INTERACTIVE
Best: The standout piece of work for me is the Dali Museum 'Dreams of Dali'. The idea of inviting people to explore a famous artwork as a virtual space is awesome. There are obviously a ton of VR applications out there already in categories like entertainment and gaming, but this is a nice example of where VR might lead in the arts. I can't wait to see where this space is taken over the next year.

Runner up: As a runner up I thought the Tone mFish project is a great initiative. The goal to make rural communities stronger and more sustainable through mobile technology is an important cause, and it sounds like this one hopefully made a legitimate impact through government investment.
